For Subaru drivers looking for a sporty ride, it doesn’t get any better than the Subaru WRX.
The WRX is Subaru’s flagship sports car, and as with many sports cars, it comes with a bunch of different models to choose from. If you’re looking to compare the different versions of the Subaru WRX, you’re at the right place. Read on and get acquainted with your new favorite car.
Subaru WRX Base Model
The Subaru WRX at its core is a phenomenal car, and the base model starts at $27,495. With a 2.0-liter turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® engine that produces 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, this car is so much fun to drive. It gets from zero to sixty in less than 5 seconds, and with all-wheel drive standard on all models, it can handle the curves in any weather conditions.
All models come with the stylish hood scoop feeding the top-mounted intercooler and a quad exhaust system. While it’s not as flashy as some other sports cars, it still looks the part.
The base WRX comes with 17-inch wheels and is only available with six-speed manual transmission. Track-tuned suspension and a media system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration are standard in all models.
Subaru WRX Premium
The WRX Premium offers quite a few upgrades with only a small price increase, starting at $29,795. One of the biggest differences is the option to have a Sport Lineartronic Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission(CVT) instead of the manual. While it may seem sacrilegious to have an automatic transmission in a sports car, this one is still a lot of fun.
Other upgrades to the premium model include 18-inch alloy wheels, a moonroof, and an all-weather package that includes heated front seats. The premium model also has an upgraded media system with a bigger display.
Subaru WRX Limited
The Subaru WRX Limited is the best of the base WRX models, and starts at $32,095.
This model is mostly interior upgrades, with a 10-way power driver’s seat, keyless entry with a push starter, and a leather interior. The Limited model also upgrades the security system and includes LED headlights that turn with the steering wheel.
Subaru WRX STI
If you’re trying to fully dive into the sports car experience, the WRX STI is for you, and starts at $36,995. The first thing you’ll notice is the beautiful spoiler, but there’s a lot more than that to the STI.
The engine gets an upgrade with a 310-hp turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® engine, and is only available as a six-speed manual transmission. The STI has 19-inch alloy wheels and has a lot of the same interior features as the other WRX models.
The STI also comes in a Limited model with a leather interior, moonroof, and an upgraded spoiler.
